international architectural practice safdie architects and milan-based designer piero lissoni
collaborated to design the 'mamilla hotel' located in the heart of jerusalem, israel. the structure is a
combination of historical structures and contemporary spaces positioned within the dense walled city.
the facade's antiquated jerusalem stone blocks were numbered before construction and placed back in their
original location to maintain the elevation's established appearance.
a glazed roof spans connects a stone facade to the neighboring building creating an interior space.
a grand staircase formed with charcoal-hued steel sheets ascends through the open atrium which culminates
with the transparent ceiling, welcoming natural light into the lobby below.

a mediterranean climate and a limited space call for an architectural language of proportion and function which connect the exterior and interior environments with subtle features and distinct spaces.
moshe safdie: crystal bridges museum
nestled within the forested scenery of the ozark landscape, this art complex is formed by bridging a stream, creating a fusion of art and nature as visitors stroll through the glazed galleries.
safdie + marino: louis vuitton maison
emerging from the water, this glass pavilion is surfaced with 20 foot long sunshades and UV coating to protect the luxury goods from the sun's strong rays.
moshe safdie: chongqing chaotianmen
the mixed-use complex references the sails on a fleet of the traditional chinese boats which previously docked on the historically significant site.

the design features an aluminium frame that has been die-cast as a single piece.
