australian firm enterarchitecture has completed 'aldrich residence' in perth, western australia. the house is a response to
the surrounding landscape, echoing the movement of the nearby body of water and the slight topographical undulation.
both of these shapes can be seen in the concrete, was developed using a computer-aided terrain modeling program.
the form is a non-parallel extension of the landscape below, digitally enhanced to provide accurate volumes
depending on the the spacial requirements underneath. the layout of the residence is made to allow light to wash over
the concrete surface. this exposes the subtlety of the material and the piece's slight curves.

because if the location, the public areas were placed on beams, exposing them to the landscape. the more private rooms tuck
into the ground, making them easily accessible yet partially removed from the rest of the structure.

Concrete is not "cozy". Unless the design, component, and installation are done properly, it could leak like a sieve, and is difficult to maintain.

That's some fancy roof...but it seems to provide very little enjoyment proportionate to its cost.
Overall, there are no architectural "flourishes" here I can see that really improve the amenity of the house. I could go on...the driveway and garden don't really relate well to the interiors, maybe when the trees grow, it will feel less barren.

And just to put this out there:

are the clients even going to be arsed USING that roofdeck 3 months down the line?

It's a little out of the way to warrant the casual meander...

Looked at the architects website, some swell ideas but not so much considerate, well-executed architecture I can see.
