tokyo-based studio keiji ashizawa. the site of an old samurai residence, the area is filled with mature pine
and zelkova trees, enabling a design which connects with nature and removes itself from the urban district.
each floor incorporates plantings, with the ground level boundary to the dining and living area opening to a lushly
vegetated garden, allowing the greenery is permeate the wooden interior.

the interior was configured as a series of small spaces, reducing the complexity of the arrangement and producing
a variety of quaint experiences dictated by air flow, natural light filtering from outside and art work.

Very sexy and serene - except for the view from the "upper level." Maybe a window treatment to hide the house next door?
DesignPOV.com   01.10.12
Very sweet. Besides very sensitive architecture I can see bits of the personalities from the inhabitants. And besides; I love the downspout :)
Mario   01.11.12
great staircase

as for the view from the upper floor, window treatment would ruin the wonderful crystaline quality
dbkii   01.11.12
