japanese architecture practice form / kouichi kimura architects has created 'house of representation' in kyoto, japan.
surrounded by vistas of the countryside, the dwelling balances both intimate areas and an open living room.
the centripetal plan is connected through corridors leading to all rooms. the layout makes it continuous and comfortable.
in addition the smaller pockets of space allow for better lighting and controlled vistas.

the interplay between volumes and voids are intensified by the material choices. a combination of stone, wood, glass,
metal and concrete create varying texture while staying in a neutral color range. skylights and window installations diffuse
and reflect the natural light.

tones and materials create a distinction between the lower and upper level hallways
