'clinic' restaurant in singapore

designboom editor, anita, recently visited 'clinic' while in singapore for the 2007 singapore design festival.
the newly opened restaurant and lounge was designed by the dutch firm, concrete architects. the restaurant is
designed from top to bottom in a medical theme. wheelchairs, hospital beds, operating lights, test tubes and more,
the design is completely off the wall. the interior is far more subtle than the al fresco seating out front.
although there is no doubt that clinic stands out from the crowd, it may have gone too far.

As much as I go for any recycling or hijacking.. whether it be orageous , striking, poetic , shocking , surrealistic or just plain.
This Clinic business only rings a sad bell for me
Associations collect and dispatch used medical furniture to help disabled populations worldwide so knowing that handicaped human beings can be sprawled on the floor for years for lack of these beds or wheelchairs , this display, meant to be so original, post-whatever, picturesque and bla bla bla just turns me off
As we say here " of course one can possibly laugh about everything but not with anyone....."
On the other hand, I feel the idea of the restaurant hasnt been really pushed that far, to get a good buzz, they should Eat the Rich there , serve'em as appetizers...
