new york city-based practice axis mundi has designed the ‘cloud house’, a weekend residence positioned high upon the ridge of a plateau in lizard head pass, colorado. nestled within a grove of aspen trees, four oval pods are clustered side by side and oriented at different angles to overlook strategic vantage points. the transparent and curved exterior spans from the ground to the flat white roof, becoming nearly invisible during various times throughout the year.

separating the interior’s organization, each element contains a different room and openings to link them are placed where the walls overlap each other. a porous and smooth circulation is generated between the entry, kitchen and dining area, study and bedroom. two bathrooms are placed within the spaces, enclosed with round and solid partitions for privacy.
