‘strip’ by j. mayer h. architects, milan, italy

the ‘strip’ installation by berlin-based j. mayer h. architects and carpet manufacturer vorwerk is currently on display during milan design week 2012 at the interni pavilions at the università degli studi di milano. the custom floor covering is cut into a graphic interpretation of the numbers and letters which form data protection patterns, a prevalent theme in the architects work.

lining the first level loggia of the building, the asymmetrical design contrasts the rhythmic geometry of the historic architecture, creating a unique spatial experience. stretching 70 meters in length, the gray and black bands delineate the walking path while intermittent benches in a similar motif.
