dellekamp arquitectos: lookout point + coffee restaurant

perched on a promontory in the guadalajara region of mexico, the ‘lookout point + coffee restaurant’ designed by mexican practice dellekamp arquitectos and claudia rodríguez, will offer views of the expansive parque mirador independencia in jalisco. the structure will carve into the terrain, generating a sliding gesture from the landscape. a platform juts from the earth, forming the observation pathway which allows visitors to stroll above the restaurant below. the floating plane of concrete is the only visible element from the land below, while the slanted and corbelled edge of the deck minimizes its visual weight and mass from eye-level.

invisible from sight and excavated into the rock, the outdoor dining area is positioned within a pit below the elevated walkway. interior seating may be accessed by an independent stairway. individuals within the cafe’s lounge may view the gorge through large window panes and meander to an outdoor amphitheater within the ravine through another stair.
