herringbone homes by alison brooks architects

this set of two homes in london's south end were designed by alison brooks architects to blend into the wooded
surroundings. to achieve this, the exterior is clad in a herringbone pattern of wood. this pattern is repeated on
other elements throughout the homes and property. the result is an optical illusion of faceted surfaces that appear
to protrude from the walls. the interiors are very spare, centered around an m.c. escher-like staircase that looks
like it's hang from the floor above.
