polish practice OZONE architectural studio has created the ‘euro 2012 junction’ to efficiently transport and connect the large crowds of visitors and spectators to the european football championships in wroclaw poland, and to future events held at the stadium. methods of  urban transport are vertically layered to receive the railway on the ground level and the tram and bus stops above  with direct access to the stadium, and in a separate plane from the highway. the increased efficiency of the concrete structure minimizes the need for private vehicles at the venue by streamlining the journey to the events with public transit. a massive canopy folds down over the program with a triangular shape that opens towards the arena. each area of the hub are entirely accessible with centrally located two-person elevators. the footprint of each level was designed to move large masses of people quickly and effectively.

‘euro 2012 junction’ has been shortlisted in the ‘transport’ category of the 2012 world architecture festival. see the complete list of this year’s nominated projects here.
