'homenkollen ski jump' by julien de smedt

danish architect julien de smedt won the open competition for the design of a new holmenkollen ski jump in oslo,
norway last fall. he has now been commissioned to build the jump and arena for the world championships in 2011.
the jump will be located on the northern hillside of oslo in the same location as the previous ski jump built in 1892.
the new design has a simple shape, following the jumpers descent while still providing wind protection. the tower's
top features a viewing deck, as well as lounge and jumper's deck. an inclined elevator takes viewers and
jumpers to the top.
