mobile performance venue by various architects
mobile performance venue by various architects

the ‘mobile performance venue’ (mpv) is an unusual structure designed by norway’s
various architects. the 90 x 60 metres oval structure is capable of holding 3,500 people,
oh and did i mention its façade is inflatable. the design is like any other performance
venue in that is holds a central performance room surrounded by an outer ring holding
all the supporting facilities. however unlike any traditional performance venue, the mpv
is completely mobile thanks to its inflatable super-structure and collapsible design.
it was specifically designed for the arts alliance productions' 'id – identity of the soul'
production. the hexagonal inflatable structure is 100% recyclable and the whole unit fits
in 30 standard shipping contianers. the structure takes 2 weeks to assemble and 1 week
to disassemble. the first use of the building will be next year.
