kalmar museum of art by tham & videgard hansson arkitekter

the kalmar museum of art is located in kalmar, sweeden and designed by tham & videgard hansson
arkitekter. the new museum is situated next to a modernist restaurant designed by sven-iver lind in
the 1930’s. the modestly sized building has four stories all clad in black metal and large windows.
programming will include permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as office space, workshop
rooms and a public library. large windows open up the gallery spaces to the exterior and the top
floor features vaulted skylights. the main staircase is also left open to bring light to each level.
the building’s interior finishes included exposed concrete, natural woods and white walls.
