princeton university unveiled their major redevelopment plans this past february. the massive re-planning
of the new jersey school will feature work by hopkins architects, frank gehry and steven holl. this week,
plans for the steven holl architects designed arts complex were released. the building will house the
lewis center for the arts as well as performance and teaching space for the university’s theatre and dance
programs. the building is designed with three sides and a central open courtyard. this purpose behind this
design was to make the building open and welcoming. the building is divided into three sections which will
share a common reception area. holl has yet to specify what materials will be used for the building but in
keeping with the theme he plans to make the buildings very open and transparent. a large pool will be the
focal point of the inner courtyard.
