for the 11th international architecture biennale, guallart architects wanted to develop a system which had the potential of reprogramming the world. the result is ‘hyperhabitat’, a keyboard which allows guests to be involved in a participatory process which aims to upload the physical world through www.hyperhabitat.net. this web-site gives people the opportunity to connect with the installation and objects around them as well as giving individuals a chance to propose new relations between its various parts.

the multi-scale structure has been programmed so physical objects have a digital identity. each object included has been classified into twenty-one categories which include areas such as work and house. the proposal is that in the future every object in a house will have a microserver. this would give them an identity in the digital world, allowing them to establish relationships with other objects at an economic, social or environmental level.

through the installation, we see that architecture is the interface which allows us to in habit the world. it is a means through which we can work and interact with networks and nodes of any scale, delivering information and establishing connections locally and globally.
