designboom published a sneak-peak of renzo piano’s new california academy of sciences building in april.
the building is now open so we would take another look at the finished design. like we previously mentioned,
the new facility houses an aquarium, planetarium and natural history museum. the building makes use of
some of the most high tech construction methods and sustainable materials currently available. the most
spectacular feature is the building’s 2.5 acre green roof, however the interior is quite elaborate itself.

gives the building high praise by stating, ‘(the building) is a comforting reminder of the civilizing function of
great art in a barbaric age.’
