venice architecture biennale 08: millegomme / refunc

denis oudendijk and jan körbes of millegomme / refunc are considered garbage architects, in a good way.
bordering on the edge of art, design and architecture, their projects take old materials to make new
functional products, providing a second-life to objects which would normally be discarded. millegomme found its
origins in gipsy camps in rome, where the duo started designing objects from car tires. their 'salone di gomme'
at the venice architecture biennale are sculptural worms made entirely of reused tires, which is also a
functional seating unit.
