frank gehry's interests in art and architecture have always been rooted in his love for painting and sculpture.
since the beginning, he has been in close association with members of the arts community, gaining a keen
interest into the understanding of contemporary painters and sculptors. this has led him to design a number of
studio spaces for artists and exhibits for major exhibitions. early on, he began experimenting with product
design which had a sensibility towards sculptural forms and materials, with strong aesthetic qualities that later
influenced his architectural work. the models which he has on display at the venice architecture biennale highlight
some of the most influential projects and collaborations which he has been involved in during his career.
frank gehry is this year's recipient of the golden lion for lifetime achievement of the 11th international architecture
exhibition of the venice biennale.
