busan cinema centre by coop himmelb(l)au


the austrian architecture firm coop himmelb(l)au has unveiled the plans for their first project in korea,
the busan cinema centre. the project is the firm’s second largest to date and broke ground on october 2nd.
the building features an 85 metre cantilevered roof over a public space that is based around a 4,000 seat
outdoor cinema. inside the structure will house studios, offices and convention space for the pusan film
festival. there will also be 4 screens inside which when the film festival is over will be used as a commercial
theatre.
