endo shuhei architect institute: bubbletecture h

we previously featured the emergency shelter/tennis facility by shuhei endo. the building cleverly combined
an emergency facility that would come into use during an earthquake and a large tennis facility. the large
structure featured an expansive domed structure which is similar to the form of ‘bubbletecture h’, another
endo building. this structure is an environmental conservation and study space in the hyogo prefecture of
japan. the structure is perched on the top of a hill overlooking the forest. the building integrates all the required
program needs into one, leaving the smallest and most unobtrusive footprint possible. timber was used for
the structure as well as steel board on the roof and walls. the steel has been rusted to protect it and create
a softer look. the roof is covered in a moss to create a green roof. each step acts to protect the environment,
encouraging contemplation within its dome structure.
