‘the mondri and elano hotel’ by julien de smedt architects

as part of an invited competition JDS/ julien de smedt architects has designed a proposal for ‘the mondri
and elano hotel’ in las vegas in the US. located in a city known for gambling and its surreal architecture,
the architects wanted to create a genuine experience with their hotel design. one of their other main
concerns was to balance the project’s large scale with the need for intimacy on a smaller scale. they took
inspiration from the mondrian and delano hotels, and aimed to simplify the design to the essence of a hotel.
julien de smedt architects collaborated with artist olafur eliasson for the project, no word on what form this
collaboration will take.
