kunsthaus zürich proposal

REX architecture recently updated their site with images of their proposal for the kunsthaus zürich.
the design would have seen galleries sorted into an array of three distinct typologies—universal,
classical, and lyric—and by daylight requirements, locating rooms that demand the most daylight
on the higher floors. the project was a runner up to david chipperfield architects but you can see all
the submitted proposals for the extension at the kunsthaus until 11 january 2009.

calvin klein 'doll house'

another recent project by REX (together with magnusson kemencic assoc. and situ studio)
is the 'doll house' for the calvin klein collection store on madison avenue, new york. the design spans
4 complete floors, including a landscaped urban rooftop, and is fabricated in steel, acrylic sheet,
and four-way stretch spandex. the structure seemingly floats high above a new york city street
from four steel suspension hangers. each floor is decorated with miniature replicas of calvin klein
pieces from clothing through to home furnishings. the 'doll house' will be on show until january 5 2009.
