OMA wins first prize for taipei performing arts centre competition

the office of metropolitan architects (OMA) has been awarded first prize in the design
competition to build the taipei performing arts centre.
built above an exisiting food market the design includes a 1,500 seat theatre
and two 800 seat theatres which plug into a central cube, clad in corrugated glass,
that combines the stage accommodations of the three theatres in a single whole.
each theatre can be used independently or in a combination. the building is expected
to cost approximately 120 million USD and is scheduled to be completed in 2013.

I don’t know who was the Jury but they really mist a great inovative project.
This doesn't fit into Shilin's city context at all!!
It looks all wrong....
Morphosis's Performing Arts Center has a much more flowing form which fit into this area perfectly. Plus the architecture does not seems so bulky!
