the dublin based studio donaghy + dimond architects has been selected as the winner of the west cork
arts centre’s architectural design competition. the anonymous completion received 216 entries, including
a number from prestigious uk and international firms. located in the town of skibbereen, the west cork
arts centre will house a number of local galleries, studios, performances spaces and workshops to serve
the community. the new building features a distinct façade that is clad in weathered steel. the plan also
links the building with the street and small courtyard at the side. the building aims to provide both public
and private space, while carrying the centre’s program forward. the project will continue fundraising as
the building design goes through the planning process.
