portrait of sverre fehn image © stina glommi norwegian architect sverre fehn died on february 23 at the age of 84.fehn was among the leading norwegian architects of his generation, designing numerous museums in his home country, including the hedmark museum, the norwegian glacier museum, and, most recently, the norwegian museum of architecture.

he first gained international recognition for his design of the norwegian pavilion at the 1958 world exhibition in brussels. four years later he created the nordic pavillion at the venice architectural biennale. he also designed many private homes and exhibitions.

throughout his career he received many awards including the heinrich tessenow gold medal for architectural excellence and the prestigious pritzker prize both in 1997. more

a retrospective exhibition of sverre fehn’s work was shown at the nordic pavillion during the 2008 venice architectural biennale.
