'waterloo city square' by DSDHA

DSDHA has been selected has the winner of the waterloo city square design competition. the contest
focused on the outdated and confusing area of london near waterloo road and waterloo station. this major
hub remains congested area and DSDHA’s concept aims to make it more appealing and easier for all its
users. their concept revolves around the IMAX on waterloo circus as a marker of the cultural quarter on
london’s south bank. the building will be modified and adorned with a large digital screen to connect it
with the nearby british film institute. the ground level streetscape will be cleaned up and receive unified
finishes to make it safer for pedestrians and vehicles. below ground the architects have proposed a new
connection to a continuous line of cultural and commercial activity, replacing the existing maze of
underground tunnels. after extensive judging and community consultation DSDHA’s design was selected
as the most effective in reviving this important part of central london.
