encore heureux + G studio: 'room room' - crossing dialogues: for emergency architecture

'room room' is a project that was conceived and developed by encore heureux + G studio
for the recent 'crossing: dialogues for emergency architecture exhibition held at NAMOC
(national art museum of china).

the exhibition commemorated the first anniversary of the wenchaun earthquake aiming
to bring a broad range of social concern for reconstruction in the disaster affected areas,
to raise awareness of disaster affected areas, to raise awareness of disaster prevention
and mitigation. the exhibition was curated by zhou shu and pan qin, organized by the
united nations development programme, the ministry of culture of china.

for their concept encore heureux + G studio looked for what we need more in critical
moments of existence: when we are without roof, without place of residence, excluded
from the society. we wished to imagine an 'ally' to accompany the people who reconstruct
and remain with dignity.

At least it has wheels for increased stealability.

The idea of having a bicycle drawn carriage that can serve as means of storage and as a shelter seems interesting. However, the way you have to flip this thing around does not seem very practical or graceful.

i sensed that this was a french project of some parisian smokeheads who didn't really get it jet.
a little like the swedish bloke with his crap-bags for 3rd world people without toilets! not left the city yet, not really knowing what poverty really is (vagly heard about it on -arte-), a snobbish need to polish their so called social conscience or yust and simply fucking stupid. but ok you want to hear it: god, you are so: independent, alternative, social, so not selfdevoted, ... just soo bloody good people! can i be your friend??? please!
vive les bobos!
-----clodo   06.18.09
Clodo, you are stupid, if you think it's a better way to stay and look the others die, because you think that if you help them you will do as a Bobo. In fact you are a poor little designer who live in a little town close to Paris, you have a fucking bad job maybe you are graphic designer for your city newspaper and you hate all the guys who try to change the world around them. So try to find something "fucking efficient" to help the human being then post it on this blog, and you will see something crazy those fucking bobo will help you to promote your work because they are not frustrate as you little boy.
bigorno   06.19.09
I agree with clodo. This project is totaly not hitting the target to help, but to speak about. To bigorno : Helping the people, actually, is not Telling that you help the people. There is a huge difference! Volonté is the easiest part. Even idiots can say they want to help. And the design of their "object" is not considering the fact that in Africa or Asia, there are not stable floors like routes in Europe, so how this narrow vehicule will stand stable enough to allow someone to rest inside ? More : why the hell would a person from these countries sleep inside a box like that when they can do it outside or build a proper inhabitation ? This is pure bobo, clodo is true.

It is a great idea but the whole flipping thing seems pretty useless. Imagine what it would do to any delicate things in the cargo area. It would be better to have one orientation, and that way you could put windows and other interior features in a location where they always be useful. Not flipping it would also allow air vents and solar panels to be in an orientation where they would be useful in all modes, and the shape could be optimized for aerodynamics instead of multiple positions.

hello,
i am really impressed Madame/Monsieur Bigorno. you must know me somehow. and as a serious answer to a respond that is as useful and bright as the content of that article: Madame/Monsieur Bigorno if you would follow the evolution of this thing, you would notice that as soon as the first turbulence around this article has calmed down and the guys got the publicity they needed, the content will disappear in some archive drawer. Sorry. then, if you think a little about to whom and where these "lifesavers" shall be "sold" you will hopefully become aware of some problems. i give you some hints if i may; just as a snack for your journey through logical reflection (the first one is easy): money maybe, maybe not, production, the balance material effort and people helped is not effective, etc. just tell me if i shall continue ...
well so on. let me know what you think is so great about this idea.
thinking about others is ok, but if ithe thought is useless it is wasted time.
best regards,
yours
