architecture from the 50s

designed by loriane m. icibaci of forma-i, the ananda clinic is meant to accommodate
young patients who need treatment from three different specializations: orthodontistry,
physiotherapy and pshycology. the main idea behind the project was to provide space
for work and amusement for the main users (the children) and to avoid the conventional
concept of a clinic. for children's use, the walls and flooring have been finished
in washable surfaces.
the space is located in a region of sao paulo, brazil where temperatures are predominantly warm,
thus the design incorporates high ceilings, bright colours, marble and no carpets.
a cross ventilation system has also been created by use of different sized windows,
eliminating the use for air conditioners. insulated panels and double walls are used on the
west façades where the afternoon sun is the strongest.
