american firm SPF architects recently presented their design concept for the cantos
national music centre project in calgary. the project, which involves building a music
centre in and around the shell of calgary’s oldest blues bar is seen by many as one
of the country’s most ambitious and important urban-design projects, and is located
in the heart of one of calgary’s oldest neighborhoods. the centre will be part museum,
part education and outreach facility, and part performance space, incorporating genres
ranging from pop and country to ancient music and contemporary composition.
the building's exterior will be made of precast concrete consisting of glass facade with
a bridge running through the centre 10 meters in the air. the main feature of the center
is perhaps the soundscape a vertical canted atrium that connects space aurally
and physically.

everything seems out of scale to me. like the scale figures should be twice the size shown or something.

I have the same feeling. If the structure is actually that huge, congratulations, if's not it still have an incredible indoors and wood surface.

the skin of the new goldsmith theater is an abstraction of the millions of letters and envelopes that once defined this historic site – formed in copper-colored concrete panels.
