house on the water by polish firm formodesign is a proposal for a single family home.
designed with sustainability in mind the house takes into consideration water desalination,
energy accumulation, ventilation methods, water recycling, heat and energy consumption,
tidal and solar energy.

I think that this is a project's example in what eco-sustainability covers other kind of functions or problems (Tim's question is really important). I would say that this site ought inform people through a complete description of each design's work.

hi everyone. we did the project, the location can be seen at ww.formodesign.pl PROJEKTY -> DOM NA WODZIE. we just launched the site for Poland and english version should pop up very soon. our guy is on the holiday at the moment;) there will be a description of sustainability ideas for that one available as well. the trick is there is a huge top deck covered with solars. it sounds laic but some calculations have been made and a house doesn't use that much energy after all when it's well sun oriented etc. the triangle part faces south-west. the "flat facade" hides all the installation stuff and faces north. we did our best to shape this one to look as it looks and give it some reasonable sustainability spice. thank you for the comments, we're glad you like it;)

The core, made of concrete, is combined with steel cantilever structures. Foundation for the house is a huge close to house size concrete counterweight foot stabilized with the sea bed pile system. it works the way your feet do when you lean forward while standing;)

the shape and form of the house follows the sun path and allows for panoramic views. aged fawn and wooden planks are used for the facades, as this is typical of rural architecture for the region.
