earlier this year we featured spanish firm andres jaque architects house in never
never land, ibiza. we have just received images of the completed project which
is now in use.

for their design they made four major decisions;
to minimize tree and shrub removal or pruning on the allotment, raise more than
80% of the building mass on piles to avoid any sort of disturbance on the ground
(paving, crops, watering or other input) which might eventually alter its properties,
cluster all the waste filtering and treatment equipment and compensate for
the amount of substrate affected by the foundation by including an equivalent
mass of substrate in various parts of the skin around the buildings, mixed with
a water-retaining gelatin to reproduce the moister of original soil in shallower
conditions.

andrés jaque arquitectos: sweet parlia

architecture | 09.13.11

consisting of four loosely defined areas, the pavilion is a direct response to the current phenomenon in seoul where the concept of domesticity is spatially fragmented and constantly in a state of flux.

architecture | 07.17.11

this pavilion's design proposes the ideal arrangement for politically versed conversation in the home, opposing the typical conception of residential settings as a retreat from reality.

andres jaque architects: fray foam home

architecture | 08.11.10

homes are arenas in which the political currently finds opportunities to happen. 'fray foam home' is the restitution of the fragmented spaces in which a specific home - with its comforts and supplies are constructed.
