lekker design: artfund pavillion proposal

singaporean studio lekker design came up with this proposal for the artfund pavillion
competition. they imagined the pavilion as an intersection between two building
components: a simple plywood box, and a more elaborate exterior shell. the latter was
something like a stone, its form described by lamina of cut plywood ribs.

the pavilion was intended to be placed in front of an existing art gallery. this is the view
as one passes the pavilion entrance toward the existing building. the opening to the scheme
was intended to appear as the inner box being carved into a conventional architectural form
as if from a larger, naturalistic stone mass.

here you can see the various elevations of the lamina. these were generally oblique to
the mass, such that they could describe the form almost like topographical lines.

the plan shows the depth of the exterior shell, as well as its permeability to wind.
