korean design team dakhu studio has sent in images of their proposal for the
taipei pop music center.

the lifted multiple plateaus form semi-open flexible performing spaces for diverse
performances and cultural activities. starting from the linear park, a series of environmentally
controlled public outdoor spaces will vary to form a musical and cultural congregation
of performances. it can be reconfigured as needed and be used year-around with protection
from rain.  it will also form a public music sphere where digital technology will enable
visitors to have free access to music.



vertically stacked solid platforms accommodate the indoor exhibition spaces, production
and support spaces. they not only work as broadcasting dishes for music using digital
technology but also as the communication bands where digital images are displayed by
LED system on vertical elevations of 360 degree angles for the surrounding urban area.
it also works as the hangers for the apparatus to support and transform open spaces
underneath.



taking into consideration sustainability, taipei pop music center will actively utilize
the unpredictable heavy rains. the platforms will channel and collect the rain-waters for
hydro-cooling system while protect outdoor spaces from rains. the top platform not only
works as the basin to collect water but also as the collector of solar energy with photovoltaic
panels.

the ground floor of the north side is opened mostly as a hub connecting the green way
and phase2 space of western side, and the linear park on southern side.


indoor and outdoor spaces

there are digital music pavilions located in the southern linear park that forms the landmarks
for surrounding area while functions as the broadcasting posts and apparatus supporting
outdoor performance. it accommodates contemporary events on the ground level with
flexible configurations.
