belgian architectural firm dmvA designed 'blob VB3', a mobile unit for the office of
xfactoragencies as an extension to the 'house'. the  space - egg house consists of a bathroom,
kitchen, lighting, a bed and several niches for storage. the nose can be opened automatically
and functions as a kind of porch. it easily transportable and can also be used as an office,
guestroom or garden house.

polyester was the primarily material used in construction of the 'blob VB3'.

I like this house but I think it's based on an idea of Krups engineers that designed couple of years ago a egg shaped storage cabinet for coffee.
Krups   01.05.10
i don't like it at all...if you place this strange egg-shaped house in any landscape it stands out like a sore thumb! being inside of it you don't see anything happening outside (if it's closed of course!). maybe it would be better to place a window?... and the bed seems to be really comfortable to get in.. :/
so_os   01.05.10
it's a shitty and unrealistic pod.
Ok as one off but hasn't got any future whatsoever.
hingamp   01.05.10
The concept is great. Alternative housing. I would prefer a bit more modular, but it's the idea that counts. Just think, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was ridiculed as a failure from day one. Disney made his entire kingdom on the success of it. Ideas like this house can revolutionize the world.
anti-skeptic   01.05.10
Goose egg. As in big fat zero. It does give me an idea for a travel trailer but needs windows and better storage. This much open shelving is dumb. How to transport this? Will it roll around in a good wind? Is there no heater no cooler? This thing would be an oven in the sun. No screening on the door? You have wasted your time for this?
dagriggs   01.05.10
theres obviously a window on the top
mike   01.05.10
great done!
i like the surrealistic attitude of this project and surprising opening of the part.
m.   01.05.10
How to you keep things from falling of the shelves and rolling around?
Nathan C   01.06.10
cool
ommy   01.06.10
i like it, it'd b cool if there was a better construction of the sleeping area, but nice none the less
ape   01.06.10
All I have to say is, if I was a guest at someone's house and they let me stay in their backyard in this thing-I would be ecstatic! I really enjoy the shape and lines of the VB3, it is quite adorable and executed very well.
sz   01.06.10
I love this, it's such good and exciting design. windows could be built behind the shelves or sliding doors on the storage.
bec   01.06.10
They went through all the work it took to design this really cool futuristic looking object and they didn't take the time to go just a hair further to design a really cool futuristic looking base. Ughh! C'mon guys and gals, finish the job!
Bryan   01.07.10
Thank god for photographers and their lighting equipment, the proverbial lipstick to this utopian pig.

Quite entertaining to look at though... Perfect for the internet and its bursts of fame.

Could be the new datcha if opening your dwelling to the weather is not an issue.
Sunlight and a view are overrated anyway, just put an internet connection in there and you have the perfect shut-in experience.
For the kids !
Rama   01.07.10
its very interesting this construcction is the solucion for problems of housing in apartate regions
sergio   01.07.10
This isn't anything new at all... If you add a window and a door, paint it silver, its a 1950's american 'Airstream' caravan!
Stephen 07.01.10   01.07.10
its great, the problem is the location.
i want one to install in my apartment
uo   01.07.10
The interior is very anchotic with all your stuf to be visible
A version with stone like apearence would be more beautiful ithink...
nick-x   01.08.10
i believe the shelves should have coverings, and maybe a drop down bed full size maybe =\ or twin given the space....maybe it should be a tad bit bigger?...what about bugs and crawly things? does the door and "porch" close tight? what about keeping things cold or hot? food? drinks? i know there is a kitchen but what all does it have in or on it to me it looks like a single stove pilot?
mittens   01.08.10
AND FOR HEAVENS SAKE! Y SO WHITE! [on the inside] what about wheather? rain, snow, etc. your going to track all of that inside! i'm afraid this would be a complete mess if it wasn't covered or in a place where this is not a concern...like on fake grass, or under a overhanger...
mittens   01.08.10
molto interesssante
margherita   01.09.10
I think this Blob VB3 looks absolutely great! The overall design is simplistic and very nicely shaped. The Blob can be probably used for several purposes, for instance when you put a desk in, it can be used as an office, when you put a bed in it can be used as a guesthouse, when you put a receptiondesk in, it can even be used as an entrance/reception in the middle of a big building. Thereby it seems easy to place a window in the front so that daylight is no issue when te nose is opened. As shown on the pictures there's also a door at the left side so the front could be closed by glass without spoiling the entrance.

Has anybody an idea were to see this Blob in real-life?
Pieter, the Netherlands   01.09.10
Well i see it is really convenient in cold places in which it acts as an igloo.. which means only the window on top is sufficient as u never see windows in igloos...
Khaled S. Adib   01.09.10
i think its cool where can you by one
super monkey   01.10.10
UZAY da yaşamak için ideal olabilir. ama dünya da buna ne gerek var?
mehmet hafızoğlu   01.11.10
yes! this is case in point:,,how you can spend your useless money!!! ...this is nothing special and nothing new...
marcus   01.11.10
What about window?
What about air conditioning?
mahmut   01.11.10
Excelente!!!

I want one in the court of my house...
