townhouse, landskrona, sweden by elding oscarson
all photos by ake e:son lindman
swedish architects elding oscarson have designed a townhouse in landskrona, sweden.
the recently completed house is situated on a narrow site between old neighboring buildings.
it is only 5 meters wide with a tiny area of 75 square meters.
three thin slabs are projected into the open volume, softly dividing its functions. the interior
consists of a single space, softly partitioned by three exposed steel slabs. these span the entire
width of the house and divide its program – kitchen, dining, living, library, bed, bath,
and a roof terrace.
the continuous interior space opens up to the the street as well as to an intimate garden.

all facades are treated equally, exposing the interior and offering views through the building with similar apertures whether on the front,
back or sides

a home office for a growing side business of art dealing is located in a separate building across a small garden in the back

The place where the house is located is called "Landskrona" and not the way you have spelled it in the title and the main article. See the fact info at the bottom of the article.
Anyhow, I like the architecture and how it contrasts from the rest of the buildings.

one bad point is just that you have all the cooking steam in the bedroom afterwards
i like this :D 01.18.10
Beautifull house but totally out of place
Niki 01.18.10
The house is nice, but it kind of disrupts de surrounding architecture

excellent project

a shame that you can't be barefoot to go from the bed to the bathroom

It's a very rude imposition on the rest of the neighborhood. It should at least be a dark color and recessed slightly.

Selfish, arrogant, unsympathetic, characterless.
In short, a wonderful example of modern architecture.

Shame. You hip guys surely have never heard about Tadao Ando's Azuma House, built in the 70's.

same amount of detail at any distance.
no respect for its surroundings.
cocky and unimaginative.

I like the design very much. It looks efficient, light and airy. I hope there is a WC on the ground floor, otherwise it will be a hasty sprint to the top...
That said, I cannot believe that the local building committee issued a permit for it to be built in that beautiful old street. Architecture does not always have to "fit in" but this is so clashingly not feng shui.
And 280K Euros appears too expensive for a tiny house like that.

Its a real shame on the lovely old street. Why anybody want put that very modern house right on the middle of the old street!!!
I love those old little houses. This modern house is a very nice design but the colour is bit too bright for this street. The darker colour could be made. It is could be brick layer style or the stones. I think the natural materials would be better.

same exterior as house in plum grove by sejima and same concept...

I cant decide whether it enhances or disrupts the street - so I love it for making me feel that paradox ! Maybe Nicolas is right about the white being too bright - It will be interesting to see how it ages... but I LOVE it !
