architectural firms SeARCH and CMA have collaborated to build a holiday home
called ‘villa vals‘ underneath the alpine slopes of vals, switzerland. concealed under
mountain
slopes, this project designed by bjarne mastenbroek and christian müller has
succeeded in keeping the surrounding nature unobstructed with heavy architectural
development.
‘villa vals’ consists of a facade with many window openings and a steeply
inclined central patio. the interior features a compact setup of bedrooms with bunk beds,
elevated bathrooms and raised podiums with king-size beds. the entrance into the home is
through an old graubunder barn and an underground tunnel.

‘villa vals’ is currently available for rent.
