encore heureux's plan for 'petit bain', a floating architecture is being built in the hopes
of making a cultural facility to support emerging artists and enriching culture
within the community.
it will be situated at number 9 gate station, at the foot of the
bibliothèque françois mitterrand. the building plan will extend over three levels and span
45m in length, 11m in width and 6m in height. the cultural structure will consist of a theatre
to host an audience of 400 people, a multimedia studio and restaurants, and open patio
at the very top. the upper rooms will house the bar, coat room and bathroom while the ticket
office, resource centre and office will be accessible by entrances at quay-level. restaurants
hosting social gatherings will provide a view over the seine at water level.

Wonderful concept. Paris uses her river Seine so well. Apart from the many perpendicular insertions,(and there are lots!) - the bridges, including the new simone de Beauvoir etc., there are many wonderful parallel additions - the Josephine Baker piscine and recently Jakob and Mac Farlanes Cite du Mode. It is such a pity though that this has not yet been fully let with cafes and shops. How wonderful woudl that be. The architecture is powerful. This one I like a lot too. Is is a realisable project or an aspirational project?
