terreform 1: rapid re(f)use

rapid re(f)use is a new project by the new york based architecture organization terreform 1. the project
is a large scale monument that transforms the garbage produced by new york city in one hour on
a typical day. the ‘one hour tower’ is shown to scale with the statue of liberty in the front. the design of
the monument would also feature the famous new york statue in a negative silhouette. the monument
is part of terreform 1's large project which envision a scenario of reusing all the trash to build
infrastructure. ‘automated robot 3d printers are modified to process trash and complete this
task... different materials serve specified purposes; plastic for fenestration, organic compounds for
temporary scaffolds, metals for primary structures, and etc. eventually, the future city makes no
distinction between waste and supply.'

I hope they give credit to Disney and the Wall-E team for the basis of the idea (or vice versa if they had it first...)

looks like a WALL-E was a big deal to these designers;

"The Re(f)use City and WALL·E
An MIT scientist and consultant for the Disney film Wall-E imagines a better use for our nation's trash."
