seiwooo: synaeresis

‘synaeresis’

seiwooo has developed a concept project called ‘synaeresis’ in inokashira koen, japan that looks at the relationship between architecture and cinematography. it is a residential block where every inhabitant personifies his or her own housing environment. residents are seen as actors that create their own reality from the inside of their intimate space. in the world of cinematography, stories are shaped by careful editing. similarly, ‘synaeresis’ plays on this idea whereby the way a space is ‘edited’ together creates a certain geographical story. according to seiwoo, effective urban planning (also referred to as pornographic urbanism) combined with residential architecture (erotic architecture) is what drives the storytelling (unit beyond storytelling or l’unité inénarrable). the resulting form of the resident is a molecular space with an indefinite number of combination as it is conceptualized by individual inhabitant.
