GAD: gtk gokturk residences, istanbul

gtk gokturk residences by GAD

GAD (global architectural development) have created the gtk gokturk residences, istanbul.
the intent of the project was twofold; one was to create modern living spaces and the second
was to challenge the typical modernist housing blocks that consume most the suburban
landscape of istanbul. consequently, this strategy introduces a new residential typology to
the area. a process of deforming the typical block is used with various software techniques.
input data directed the forms to response to programmatic and contextual needs.

the residential complex has 3 individual buildings with a total of 13,000m and a ground
level park/green zone as community space.

the project was developed in collaboration with dara kirmizitoprak.

This looks terrible. I can only imagine how much worse it will be once it's built - not what Istanbul needs at all.

its too trippy. better suited for amsterdam
duhhh   02.08.10
self indulgent and meaningless.

to create modern living spaces?!
(it was only the hard corners and flat edges that kept us from being modern for years. i feel modern even when looking at its renders)

to challenge the typical modernist housing blocks?!
(to challenge our CPUs to see if they can handle ''modern''(as above) stuff.)

various software techniques?!
(to create a fresh-cut old trees effect)

this simply looks like a sophomore who had just spared a project when learning a 3d software. this is flashy in a bad meaning.

poor paysage (if you didn't have time, let your trainee architect do it, please. would be far better.)

i feel insulted for seeing it here as if it is worth a look... huh

This isn't something that i would have expected to see solely from GAD but with Dara Kirmizitoprak???(i guess two good don't make it better). Both the design and the renders are disappointing.

Houses struggling to melt into Dali's watches. Trying too hard and being very unsuccessful. Should've posted the project in Ortakoy, similar but much more decent.
