looks like kuma is jumping the shark. his work over the past few years have not been inventive. rather, they have been weak and derivative.
ramon   02.08.10
that's so simple and sooo nice
Luke   02.08.10
It's quite poor. His design is going down every year.

does this look a bit frank lloyd wright?

agree archic. it's very poor.

kuma kengo has never been interesting, but a purveyor of style over content. this is yet another piece of his nonsense.

beauty is in an object's ability to be elegantly simple.

This is simple and seem to intelligently achieve the lot's purpose. In the last shot, we see that this mini-mall is surrounded by paved streets, gray sidewalks, and concrete buildings. The design is able to provide a garden space without much ground; the hanging garden provides a sense of relaxation...an oasis within the city.

WOW!! Architecture that actually functions well for the user and not just for the purveyors!! "How Quaint," says the silly design student.

Archic and Mich completely miss the point as to why a buiding exist; thank goodness DB hadnt

the design is something NEW...
but being new doesn't garantee it to be beautiful....I think a building as big as this one, needs to create a beautiful scenery....is there anybody who ENJOYS the looks of this building??

less is more

Some might like it. Not sure for what, as it's unfortunately a very poor commercial gallery that is similar to what I have down the road.
Ok, there are some designer hanging baskets for plants.... Yeah, Great! Genius.
Fuck that. It's shit in your face.
Kengo, go back to school and learn where you can add value and not make money for nothing.
