kokkugia: taipei performing arts center

the new york and london based architecture firm kokkugia developed their plan for the taipei performing
arts center to create a performance venue and public space of spectacle. the structure is based on the
location’s unique geography. a slight slope in the ground was integrated into the plan, allowing visitors to
enter from under the building. the interior aims to create the best possible acoustics whiled maintaining
the richness found in old theatres of the past. the theatre’s roof is made of a network of semi-autonomous
agents, seeding design intent at the small scale. the agents reorganize to adjust so that the roof maintains
some of its original geometry and other parts shift freely.

very meaningless project. I am from Taipei and I seriously believe who ever is making a proposal for TPAC should seriously considered our history, culture and identity. Placing a big piece of steel on our skin simply won't do it!!!!!!
