italian firm studiodosi developed 'the calls henge' a proposal for the 36 calls competition
in leeds, UK.

they designed a six storey office building spanning approximately 2.260 sqm, suspended
above a 360 sqm public space, facing the river and in a former warehouse site. a circular
ring, coated with green see-through walls (ivy), hangs over the river, leaving the ground
level free for circulation, for social events

geothermal pumps and roof-top solar panels help the building to control and reduce
energy consumption, while the see-through ivy coating modulates direct sunlight
and features the entire development identity.

Yes we do, of course.
But in that case they were objects (beautiful, upgraded ond oversized functional "furniture"), not building. However, yes, we know but at the beginning of design process we did not even remind of. There is always someone who did it first but with something different or less or for totally different functions.
Sure the basic concept is similar, even if a building envelope is much more difficult to integrate with building functionality. Thanks for comments.

In an architectural crit some 30-years ago, I saw a professor chastise another student by yelling, "You can't make it good architecture just covering it with ivy."

I now know exactly what she meant by that.

This is such an immature proposal. No reference made to the rich surrounding built environment.

Also; should it be 'Hedge' as in garden hedge or is it henge as in Stonehenge?

Henge as in, perhaps, Stonehenge. The rich surrounding and the program both needed a new extra-ordinary iconic building. The references to the site stand in the program and in the possibility to use almost all ground level as a public space (riverside view included), instead of saturate the whole area. Suture vs sature. But is just a competition entry, don't be scared! Enjoy.
