akihisa hirata architecture office: house h

'house h' by akihisa hirata architecture office
japanese firm akihisa hirata architecture office have designed 'house h' a small
residence for a couple.
the site is located in a residential area along a slope. instead of following the conventional
method of placing the square volume on a square shaped site, the architects have juxtaposed
various elements onto one another. different places overlap and exist simultaneously,
forming a sense of order. this arrangement allows for a diverse relationship among the residents.
the housing unit is a proposal of a living environment which is neither a studio apartment
nor an ensemble of rooms. the way each of the living spaces are arranged allow individuals
on different levels to view the other spaces above or below them from different perspectives.
