extracts of local distance
extracts of local distance

extracts of local distance is a project by frederic gmeiner, torsten posselt and benjamin maus, that is best
described as architectural collage. the artists combine hundreds of fragments from existing architectural
photography, arranging them in new ways to create unusual new designs. their intent is to create a third
artistic point of view after that of the original architect and the photographer. each piece is assembled
with mathematic precision, matching vanishing points to a tee in order to create the illusion of a new
space. the photos are all analyzed using digital software and assembled digitally as well. the resulting
artworks are both chaotic and visually sound, creating dream-like environments from existing
architecture. check out the website to see close-up details on each piece and a video explaining the
project further.
