studio kg: infomab10 pavilion

madrid based design group studio kg recently completed their mobile pavilion infomab10 located at the
matadero cultural centre, madrid. the pavilion was made using a pre-built glass-fiber reinforced polyester
water tank that has a volume of 28m cubed. the design features 100 circular holes drilled into the tank to
allow natural light to flow in. the holes are quite small, with just enough room to look through. at night,
the pavilion’s holes glow from the outside like a constellation. stairs lead up to the two doors that allow
circulation through the pavilion. the whole building is mobile and can be transported around to
different locations.

Very nice and unexpected design in this pavillion, with a high industrial feeling. Remembered me a submarine.

Very interesting concept. The only thing I would change is the 3 steps at the doors. It would look very nice if they did not touch the main structure, if it was a 2 step podium being the 3rd step at the door entry. The last step would be void, the transition between the ground and the "canister", the inside space.

Excellent! Gives rise to curiosity. I agree with PdC with regard to the stairs. If they were given a semi-circlular cover in the same colour, I think it would enhance the exterior appearance.

kawamura ganjavian: funnel neck
