the 'fragile' salt and pepper shaker set, designed by mey kahn + boaz kahn, encourages people to break the
product to complete its design and use. the 'fragile' salt and pepper shaker set is available to purchase from our
designboom store. mey kahn + boaz kahn have provided us with some snapshots of the making process of 'fragile
the moulding process begins
air is blown into the moulds
the mould is complete and coated for the kiln
the 'fragile' salt and pepper shaker sets are left to dry in kiln
Hum, just a question : how do you avoid salt and pepper to mix each other ? When I look at the mould, the two spaces can communicate ? Is that right ?
nice..but why would you make something with so much time invested into each one, only for a one time purpose each? feels wasted....?
to Bull -
when you buy the salt and pepper shaker it is empty. after the breaking you fill the shakers and then use.
there is a rubber stoper in each shaker to fill and refill. you break it once, and use it forever
thank you for your comments, M&B Kahn
