franco maria ricci is a complex and multiform personality- given his cultivated
and highly original work as a graphic designer, art director and art publisher.
most of his publications have been a courageous undertaking
(the reprint of bodoni's 'manuale tipografico', the encyclopedia of
diderot and d'alembert, 'fmr' art magazine...),
franco maria ricci sees himself as an educator,
he wants to point out the innumerable and
hidden beauties which surround us.
so he bases his work on pictures, seeks first
of all for the things to unveil themselves.
as a graphic designer, he became famous for his
typographical rigor and elegance.
ricci knows that 'god is found in details'.
designboom truly appreciates his nonconformity -
his work is a singular mixture of naturalness
and artefice, without conforming to the prevailing
trends and fashions.
