‘infinite patterns wormhole’ is an op art installation by pattern nostrum art studio created for the center of contemporary art luigi pecci in prato, italy. the artwork is part of tempo reale, the 5th edition of TU35 – geografie dell’arte emergente in toscana, a curatorial group dedicated to showcase italian and tuscany-related artists under 35. for this show, pattern nostrum art studio designed a piece that stands between art, poetry and design, implying that there could be a shortcut between two distant points.

pattern nostrum is a studio that works with the creation of patterns by digitalizing paintings that are later turned into graphics. in this specific case, the pattern comes alive thanks to the infinity mirror installation. its dimensions, 150cm x 200cm x 20cm resemble that of a door, presenting itself as a gateway or a passage that aims to change the surrounding space perception. a lighting application of LED technology placed around the frame produces the endless and mysterious effect of repetition.

‘infinite pattern wormhole’ is an artwork that captures the attention of those who are interested in optical illusions as well as those who want to see ideas of time and space reflected on material pieces.
