resembling a mixture of 1930s airliners, flash gordon and jules verne, the boxer cycles’ ‘rocket’ tricycle aims to provide a thrilling, everyday riding experience for both the child occupants and the adult. headed by designer jeremy davies, the UK bike manufacturer is devoted to producing the world’s most elegant range of cargo trike, and with many special features, the lead design makes a push for this title. the reclining seats allow the kid to sleep comfortably during travel, and to also lie flat when it is stationary. furthermore, the three-wheeler is equipped with an important safety lighting and horn system that enables the rider to signal and maneuver like a car.

‘our personal experience with our first cargo trike was that our young children would fall asleep as we were riding, and it was painful to see their little heads flop from side to side, and then see them fall forward in their seatbelts. It can’t have done them any good! similarly, when we got to our destination, such as a park or an event, the children would try and sleep in the bottom of the cargo box, which was uncomfortable for them.’ said jeremy davies, lead designer of boxer cycles.

‘what we have designed into the Rocket solves this problem and alleviates parents’ concerns about using the trike if a child is sleepy – ultimately it makes the trike more usable and makes it all the more viable as a replacement for the car.’ he added.

manufactured from laser and water jet cut parts, the boxer cycles’ ‘rocket’ has a girder frame which makes it very strong for its weight, and has been crafted to remove typical weak points in tube frames. jeremy says, ‘the goal is to make every ride on our trikes inspirational to the riders, the passengers and the passers-by who stop and look.’ combining craftsmanship, design and personal experiences, the ‘rocket’ achieves this.
